How Qwello pricing works

Our charging tariff is made up of an energy price and an infrastructure usage fee. This means you pay for the energy you charge and the time you spend using the public charge point. The applicable terms are shown to you before you start charging.

You pay a fixed price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) charged.

Infrastructure usage fee

An infrastructure usage fee applies while your vehicle is connected to the charging station. It helps ensure charge points aren't occupied for longer than necessary and remain available to others.

Overnight cap

The infrastructure usage fee is capped overnight. This means you can leave your vehicle connected overnight without having to move it in the middle of the night once charging is complete.

Breakdown of the Electricity Price

The electricity price you pay for your charging session is made up of several components — from network charges and procurement costs to taxes, duties, and your energy provider's margin. The chart shows a typical breakdown for our European markets; actual shares can vary by country and provider.

Using a e-mobility provider?

Already have a charging card or your e-mobility provider's app? You can also charge at Qwello charging stations through our connected roaming partners.

In that case, your e-mobility provider's rate and terms apply, and you'll continue to be billed by them. Roaming prices may therefore differ from Qwello's direct prices.

Frequently asked questions about our charging rates

Why does the charging price differ by location or charging station?

Charging prices can vary by city, location, or charging station. This can depend on factors such as local conditions, electricity and grid costs, and the specifics of the charging location.

The current price for your selected charging station is always shown to you before you start – either in the Qwello App or directly on the charging station's display.
What is the infrastructure usage fee and why does it exist?

The infrastructure usage fee is charged in addition to the energy price for as long as your vehicle is connected to the charging station.

It helps ensure public charge points aren't occupied for longer than necessary and remain available to other drivers. The infrastructure usage fee starts when your charging session begins and ends when you finish charging and disconnect your vehicle from the charging station.

Overnight, the infrastructure usage fee is capped at three hours or a maximum of €3.60, so you don't have to move your vehicle in the middle of the night. The applicable infrastructure usage fee is shown to you before you start charging.
Why is the price on my invoice higher than the price Qwello showed me?

If you charge using your e-mobility provider's app or charging card, their rate and terms apply. These may differ from Qwello's direct prices.

You'll continue to be billed by your e-mobility provider. You can find the price that applies to you in their app or tariff information.
Why is an amount reserved when I pay by credit card or QR code?

If you start a charging session by credit card or QR code, an amount may be temporarily reserved on your card. This isn't yet the final invoice amount.


Once the charging session ends, the actual amount payable is calculated. Any remaining reserved amount is then released by your payment or card provider, which can take a few working days.
Do I also have to pay a parking fee?

Parking rules and fees can vary by location. Please observe the local signage and applicable parking rules at the charging station.

The Qwello charging tariff covers your charging session. If parking fees are also charged at the location, these apply independently of the Qwello charging tariff.
Where can I see the exact price before I charge?

You can view the current price for your selected charging station before starting your charging session – either in the Qwello App or directly on the charging station's display.
How do I get a Qwello charging card? You can request your Qwello card directly through the Qwello app. You'll need an existing Qwello account to do this. The card is free and will be posted to your address within 2–3 working days.
